so new people showing
hi everyone! I'm Kate, or Hawkeye
there's a lot of younger people in the mix as well
before the adults get involved and start poo pooing the idea of *kids* saving the world
I'm sure mine isn't the only one that's been saved by the younger gen a time or two
anyway
I've found a building here that is basically mine from home
my home
it's marked as Bishop Publishing
any teens or 20 somethings need a place to hangout
it's open
there's several games, an archery range, gym, and a lot of other things that can be used to either train or just relax
[address of building here]
feel free to join us
it's all good

those who will abuse anyone they can
and those who will try to protect everyone they can
the good ones fall in the middle
it's not a secret at home so why should it be here?
I get that some people do keep their id hidden and that's fine
maybe they have someone they need to protect
but it's not the same for all of us

[Denial.]
There's a lot of reasons why they recruit teenagers. Most of them are pure practicality. Most people get their powers when they're teenagers, and Parahumans don't tend to have a particularly long life expectancy, so the younger capes vastly outnumber the older capes.
Anyway. My identity is out too. But I'm kind of the exception.
[She should probably introduce herself.]
I'm Amy. By the way. I used to be a superhero.

the powers thing sounds about right for my world as well
mutations usually show up at puberty and inhumans have a ceremony or something
but there are a lot of heroes without powers or those who got them as adults
hi Amy. current, former, or never been
everyone is welcome

[But...]
...You have capes without powers? Isn't that incredibly dangerous?

shouldn't everyone do what they can to help others? firefighters don't have any special powers but they go rushing into burning buildings all the time
same for anyone who does a typically dangerous job

It's a nice sentiment. But there's a pretty big difference between helping people and fighting a fifty foot tall city destroying Kaiju. I guess you must just have to do a lot of training or something.
[Shouldn't everyone do what they can to help others? Shouldn't they rejoice in all that they can grant others? It's a sentiment that she can understand. Something that she desperately wanted to believe in. And it's a sentiment that shattered her with all her good intentions.]
It's admirable. Just not really done in my world. Capes are best for fighting other capes, generally, with some aid from the non powered employees and leadership of the various hero agencies - but there's a very clear divide. Having said that I was never really a combatant. Just the girl they came to when they were missing half their body or something.
[She feels a twang of unexpected bitterness and resentment as she describes them. They threw her in a meat grinder for what amounted to a lie, after all.]
