[He was still learning this whole earpiece device, so excuse him for it turning on and there sound like someone was fiddling with the setting. Where was his far more technologically inclined smart kid to help him? Ah well, he did realize it was on sooner than later thankfully.]

Uh... sorry? [Chagrin tone.] I was curious about an idea, since I still consider myself fairly new to this situation. Here's hoping you all with entertain me here:

What does a sense of community mean or feel like to you?

[A beat of a pause.]

Is it friends and family? Is it gathering places and camaraderie? How about a sense of people uniting for a specific purpose in mind? Everyone here has their own agendas and their own interests, and, with no overt crime present at the moment, it's curious to me how we could build a sense of community around these parts.

I'm not sure if us being at each other's necks all the time means that we're not also a community. I mean, that's how families usually work, right?

[ He doesn't sound that certain about that fact -- it doesn't sound as though he's speaking from personal experience, because he's not. Riz has been blessed with very reasonable, loving parents. ]

But I gotta ask -- what are you looking for when it comes to 'like-minded' when it comes to this place? Wanting to rebel against the system? Trying to save your own world? Believing in what we're told, not believing it? Those seem to be our, um, clearest lines of division around here.

Yes and no. Depends on the family.

[Vander had too recently lost most of his family to be keen to indulge talk about how families operated. His current daughter was furious with him over the 'family' subject as well, so it might be best to be an in-depth discussion.]

Oh, I wouldn't pretend to know what the best course is at this point in time. I haven't been here long enough, but I personally see value in finding people that also want to save their worlds and work together to do so.

Then that's a stance itself, right? That you buy what we've been told about us needing to save our worlds, and that we'll somehow have to do it together. That they're telling the truth isn't a given.

The problem is... according to Aurora, if we take her by her word, we can't save them all.

I assume there are far more worlds than ours out there. How many are already slated for destruction, if Aurora is meant to be believed? Perhaps our very presence here is suggestive of worlds are less in danger than those without individuals to fight for them.

Who knows. Maybe we have it all wrong.

It could all just be a trick. But the stakes are too high to write it off in that way, necessarily. But... I think at the end of the day, everyone will prioritize their own worlds, or the worlds that are closest to their own.

But if she is telling the truth, I don't buy that we can only save so many. If we're gunning for it anyway, we have to go beyond what we're told we can do, you know?

Of course, and why shouldn't they? In the end, we have personal agendas for our own worlds, but I know some that would care little about their worlds as long as certain elements remained here. I assume that could be the same for others.

I agree. We have to assume we can save as many that want to participate.
