As for the announcement, the hospital now has a wing to treat magical maladies. Witch doctors and the like are welcome to come check it out. People with magical maladies also welcome to come get treated, I don't know how any of this shit works.

And, yes, I'm newly arrived. Though, I imagine I'm not the only upset at finding myself here.

Before Etraya, I was brought to a different pocket universe that had been taken over by a dictator. I was sent here with a small group of people to spy on Etraya and maybe steal resources, but once we got here, we mostly decided to fuck it.

Joss Sweden sees the defecting as disloyalty, which eeeh. So, as a fun private joke I rib on him whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Welcome to Etraya. How bad the place is depends entirely on where you come from.

Well, he's just wrong and that's stupid. Thank you for deciding to ditch the dictator. The only other thing I would have mentioned is that he probably needs to be overthrown, but not everyone is up for leading a riot/revolution. Defectors help just as much as anyone else.

Thank you, I suppose. So far, I just find this place confusing. It's a lot different from Exandria, but some things are just the same. And, well, my husband somehow managed to come with me as well, so I could be more upset, I suppose.

Overthrowing did happen, dictator was killed, control of the city is back in... hands. Aurora's sibling is in charge, things are probably going better now though I have no intention of going back and seeing it myself.

Aurora... That's the illusion magic being that greeted me upon my arrival. There's another then? Well, I'm glad that the dictator was removed and the other city is back to somewhat reasonable hands.

How are things run if everything is free? Is it done by barter or is it some sort of credit system? Or do we pay with our help for this strange world?

She's not an illusion, she's a projection. There's intelligence behind it. She runs the city, not sure of how the supply of resources works, but she get everything she needs to keep us fed and entertained.

Like zoo animals. Our needs are covered, and in exchange we're sent to the circus every so often.

It's the same thing if there's not an actual person before me. Illusion magic can be used to mimic the caster fairly well. I'm not a mage or bard but I've seen spells cast enough to gather some understanding how it works. But you believe this Aurora might be an actual tangible being? Outside of her projection?

And I've been caged before. I can't say that I'm a big fan of that.

I don't think she has a human body, but she's certainly a being.

This is a nicer cage than the one I was in before, so I'm not complaining.

I'm not a fan of any cage, no matter how shiny and comfortable. I tend to overturn them.

Family name. My given name is Robert, but people usually call me Romano or Doctor Romano.

A doctor? What sort of doctor? They're super rare where I'm from, so I'm curious as to what you do.

I was a surgeon up until I lost an arm, then I did administration work, I died, and I ended up spirited into a different universe.

I run the hospital here to keep myself occupied, but there's not an abundance of patients.

So, you are a healer by trade then? And I suppose a lifelong learner like the doctors I have met before coming to this world, yes?

Might I bring up an idea to you that I spoke about with another person here? I can come to see you in person if you'd prefer.

Healer is usually associated with magic, and I don't have any, so if your idea involves magic I can't help.

If it doesn't, I'm happy to listen.

It can be associated with magic, but it doesn't always have to be. I know plenty of healers in the temples back home that aren't clerics, but started as herbalists.

Luckily, my idea has no basis in magic. Does this place have anything like a support group? My friend suggested this back home because of a lot of people were traumatized by events. It still hasn't been implemented because it's a hard sell to shopkeepers and farmers, but it sounds like a good idea for adventurers, yes?

It is a good idea. But I lack the qualifications or, frankly, the personality to lead something like that. I can get you the space for it and some guidelines, if you're looking for that.

I suppose if you can't handle it, that's fine, but it does sound like you have the training to at least help me get a good start. Do you know anyone else here who might be qualified to discuss something like this with? Perhaps we can loop them in and have you has an advisor? I'm not the fully nurturing type myself, unless you happen to be a bear cub.
