Before we all head into the labyrinth, I figure we should have a level playing field for making calls about risk.

If you die here, apparently you don't stay dead. You're down for two days or so, then you resurrect wherever your body happens to be. So it's probably a nice gesture, if you see a corpse in the maze, to drag them somewhere not totally inconvenient to wake up.

The temporarily dead also come back fully healed of injuries, but the penalty is some kind of personal loss. Think scars, tattoos, a digit, possibly more intangible qualities, etc. I have no idea what the rules are on that, so if anyone has any useful speculation, consider the floor open.

In fact, if anyone is familiar with this kind of thing back in your universes, you're invited to share with the class. The more we know about resurrection in general, maybe the more we can figure out about how it works here. Bonus marks if you have first hand experience.

[ Okay, he's relieved to not be dealing with someone who maybe took their MMO necromancer build way too seriously... You never know on the internet! There are of course other ways in which a person might have more than one Quirk or attempt to transcend death, but those are secret. ]

about the 'less' part... the personal loss seems to be just any one thing regardless of how important it is or how severe the injuries were. that doesn't really make sense. for example, if someone has a healing quirk, that is still limited by how much stamina the injured person has. every power has its limits.

[ He's rambling again. ]

this makes me think that it's less a side effect and more a payment.

[ Aurora definitely gave him the impression that this is all one big sick game. As if he didn't already have a supervillain who loves games to contend with! ]
wannasmash: You forgot to set the Ben Nye... (worried looking)

something has to pay the price. it's like using too much electricity for the grid to keep up with. in my world, environmental problems are something everyone learns about in school.

we were told the multiverse can't keep up with itself. if that energy could be put towards saving it... but it might not be enough?
wannasmash: "Pilk..." (huh concerning)

what do you mean, it's very important not to have microplastics in our food and trash in the ocean.

i didn't really want to bring it up, but yeah. lots of power and the ability to watch us.

[ He didn't want to bring it up! They can read everything he's typing! Probably. ]

The point is things are really bad. And for us too. Pretty sure fish in an aquarium aren't made to go through death mazes.

[ He's fairly sure! ]
wannasmash: Only Villains do that. (frown serious)

[ That's not where Izuku is going to stop thinking about it. He's an overthinker, it's kind of his whole deal. ]

Life-or-death situations and being entertaining, well, it's not like I haven't heard that before...

[ If only he were as good at entertaining as All Might. ]

I know we haven't been here very long, but have you heard of anyone dying permanently?
wannasmash: "I've got a bad feeling about this." (frown nervous)

[ Izuku is really bad at entertainment, but he's gotten better at reassuring someone in distress, which is the real point of it all anyway. So, he doesn't immediately voice his worst-case-scenario thoughts about people just up and disappearing. ]

that could mean anything. was there any sign of a struggle? did they leave anything behind?
wannasmash: "Tomatoes in a fruit salad?!" (oh no that's bad)

[personal profile] wannasmash 2024-05-17 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
did they have anything in common?

[ Izuku makes a noise of frustration and flops where he is (a couch). He is still sometimes prone to a young person's impatience when it seems like time and progress are moving too slowly. The people here are too disjointed, no promise of making a concentrated effort to fight a hologram figure out how to fix things. ]

thanks anyway. it's really useful information you've posted. i really don't recommend testing it because of the long-term effects, but it's good to know some things about the worst-case scenario.
