Assuming the Fae of Auriel share the same aversion to iron as those of the Feywild from where I am from, I am offering to craft temporary weapons and tools from non-iron materials for anyone preparing for the mission. My trade lies in metalwork, with modest skill in wood and leather. Brass, bronze, bone, horn, or seasoned wood are all suitable.

Time before departure is limited, so I can only take a few commissions.

Separately, I am pursuing a personal project involving spell storage and glyphcraft. If anyone has experience in such work, I would appreciate a private exchange of ideas.

Only once? If we ever manage that, I’ll assume the world ended quietly while we weren’t looking.

The glyphwork is mostly theory. I can craft the shafts, carve the containment grooves, and design the timing mechanisms, but I lack the magic to bring them to life. The goal is to create arrows that act like spells, ones that can bolster, blind, deceive, or delay an explosion. Precision and intention I can manage. Power is the missing piece.

It is an indulgence, really. Some people send flowers. I prefer a well-made projectile.

I'm assuming you've tried crystals already? Or are you trying to bypass physical means for magic entirely via some sort of imbuing technique? For arrows, I'd recommend that the holster contains the crystal, and a means of switching tracks within the holster to endow each arrow with different effects by swapping out the runes. I'd need to sketch something like that out, and again, that's based on using crystals, not pure magic technique.

Crystals and I have only crossed paths in a very narrow context. The one in my gauntlet holds an electrical charge, and even that took far too many attempts to stabilise. It behaves only because I built the mechanism around its temperament, not because I ever mastered the material itself. As far as enchanting them goes, I am a tourist peering through a window.

Your holster idea still has merit, though. Separating the volatile element from the arrow would reduce the number of failures that involve lost eyebrows. The challenge becomes transferring energy at the moment of draw. It would require a system that is fast, consistent, and resistant to user error. Most people are far better at recognising errors than resisting them.

A modular track could work. I can sketch something on my end. But without someone who understands the magical component well enough to anchor it, all I have are beautifully carved shafts with grooves that promise much and deliver absolutely nothing.

And for someone who disapproves of weapon creation, you offer suspiciously thoughtful solutions. I'm not sure if that means you secretly enjoy engineering or if you are cursed with a perfect mind.
