Assuming the Fae of Auriel share the same aversion to iron as those of the Feywild from where I am from, I am offering to craft temporary weapons and tools from non-iron materials for anyone preparing for the mission. My trade lies in metalwork, with modest skill in wood and leather. Brass, bronze, bone, horn, or seasoned wood are all suitable.

Time before departure is limited, so I can only take a few commissions.

Separately, I am pursuing a personal project involving spell storage and glyphcraft. If anyone has experience in such work, I would appreciate a private exchange of ideas.

That is excellent material. Deer bone is lighter than I prefer, but it keeps its integrity if cured properly. If you are willing to part with a few pieces, I can put them to use. The jawbone axes sound promising. Ingenious shape, really. I would enjoy seeing how you make the teeth work for you rather than against.

I'd be glad to share! I always have tons of deer bones on hand from all the hunts I go on when I'm shifted.

Teeth don't make much of a difference, really, since the way I make them the teeth are along the bottom edge, and I sharpen the part where the back of the jaw connects.

If you doubt my discipline, then you mistake urgency for carelessness. I do not forge trinkets to impress a gallery. I build what keeps people breathing when circumstance turns unkind. You question my craft as if it were vanity, but my work has buried fewer good men than hesitation ever has. Judge skill by survival, not sentiment.

This is Stygian Iron, but I don't think I want to take any chances. Even a dagger would be better than this. You can put me at the bottom of the list though - I don't need a sword to fight.

Stygian iron, you said? I cannot claim familiarity with that alloy, but if it behaves anything like true iron, your caution is wise. A dagger will serve you better. I will keep you at the bottom of the list as requested. Do you have a material you would prefer, or is bone acceptable?

That is the goal, yes. With luck, these weapons will never leave their sheaths. But luck is fickle, and preparation offends no one. I would rather we carry the means to defend ourselves and never use them than need them and have nothing at hand.

A gun is out of the question. Firearms demand components we will not have time to produce. A dagger is simple enough, though I could hammer out a few short swords if form follows function rather than fashion. They will not gleam, but they will hold an edge and a balance worth trusting.

Bring what material you can spare, and I will see you placed on the list. You will have a weapon in hand before we leave.

I judge it by discipline, quality, and ability. One can kill another with a stone, this does not speak of its quality of craft, simply that the one utilizing it has proper aim.

If it is tradition that you wait till pressure is at its greatest and time is slipping through your fingers like sand, that speaks of your own inability to dedicate properly to your craft, to properly planning ahead. This opens one up to make more mistakes as they cling to adrenaline to serve as a crutch for what they otherwise lack in principles.

Have you a forge? I should like to see your craft myself to fully judge you of your mettle. That is, of course, if you are not simply talk.

You speak of discipline as if it were armor against failure. It is not. It only steadies the hand when the world comes apart around it. All the best-laid plans can go to utter shit because life refuses to stay orderly.

If you doubt my craft, then choose a forge. Any forge. Name the fire, and I will meet you there. Equal footing, equal flame. Let the work speak where words have wasted enough air.

So do I. I’ve seen diplomacy work wonders and I’ve watched it fall apart for reasons no one could control. When it fails, people tend to die before the ink dries. Preparation is not defiance of peace, it’s insurance for when peace doesn’t hold.

And you needn’t thank me. I learned the cost of not looking out for people a long time ago.

I can’t help you with sense and discipline, but we’ve got the finest forge up in Stonhyrr. Without its forgemaster, it’s been cold for months, but that also means no one will put up a fuss if you use it. You’ll have to bring your own fire tender, though.

I wouldn’t mind the other fellow so much. It’s often in our direst days that we’re pressed to figure out what we need at all.

Don't have to explain that to me. My whole city was - In my experience, it's the innocent bystanders that get hurt when the plan goes wrong — not the people in charge. They're who I'm worried about.
