[If anyone hasn’t seen Jayce within the past few months, he looks quite a bit different. His hair is longer, he has a beard, and doesn’t seem quite as full of energy as he might have in the past. He’s also not dressing as uptight as he used to— a lack of vest and tie, exchanged for just a simple button up shirt. The background is once again S.T.A.R. labs, although he’s not trying to hide it this time.]

Hey, Etrayans. For those new to this whole thing, welcome. I’m Jayce Talis. For those who came from Pollux, also welcome. I can say with full confidence Aurora’s better at this than Castor is.

[Aurora probably won’t appreciate that comment, but whatever. He stands by it. But that aside…]

I’m putting out a call for fellow scientists to come together and work collaboratively on research involving what we know about Etraya, and more importantly, what we don’t know. This could also include strategizing developments to improve our lives here, and solving problems with our understanding in our respective fields. 


Something that we have here that we lack in our own worlds is the variety of perspectives. In my world, some of our greatest achievements are beyond what’s possible in other worlds, but we don’t have plastics or microwaves. Think of this as an opportunity for all of us to better ourselves, in this… transient existence we’re all stuck in.

Meetings would be here, in S.T.A.R. labs, every Thursday morning. No requirements if you want to participate other than an open mind, and a good attitude. No shooting down suggestions without hearing things out, and if you happen to have some sort of grudge against any of the participants here, you leave it at the door when you come in, or you’re not coming in.

You've been here longer than I have, and you really have no ideas on how to make things easier to live here? Things to improve that we can do without Aurora's help?

We'll compromise. Tell me the ideas, and I'll put them on the board. You won't need to explain them or introduce them unless we pick them as a topic to discuss.

[Aw, he appreciates the extra effort Jayce is putting in for him, so there's another few minutes as he types it all up.]

Fine.

1. Our first focus should be collecting Echo's diary entries. The mathematical calculations I've seen on the back of a few of them are really fucking interesting, and I think going over the entire thing would solve the question of whether they're lying to us or not about universes dying. I know the math is going to be above the heads of most of the people here, probably even the people who want to attend this thing, but it should still be a priority.

2. The trolley could be upgraded to a more modernized train system. That shit would be easy and would make getting around Etraya less of a pain in the ass.

3. Hooking the Academy City wind turbines that are everywhere to generators and batteries so we have a back-up power system in case whatever Aurora is using needs extra support or fails.

4. If you're feeling really ambitious then exploring agricultural infrastructure that's independent from Aurora is also an option.

Agreed on all accounts. These are good ideas. Point two is something I already had in mind, but you're right that the first point should take priority.

I'll introduce the ideas, and if there's any questions I can't answer, or you want to interject, just do so.

I don't know, maybe. I'm used to having different priorities than most people.

My priorities for Science Club (guess we're really rolling with that name) and my personal scientific priorities (Viktor) are going to be different. Admittedly, part of me is pursuing this so that others can get involved in these developments, and I can help guide instead of work on by myself. As much as I wish I could do it all on my own... I know I can't.

It helps that our priorities for the club align.

That isn't to say I wouldn't help out with any stuff for Viktor. I would, as long as it doesn't interfere with my own priorities.

Which are?

[Obviously the farm house, and obviously Harold and Aurora, but he's not sure actually if there's any priorities Accelerator has aside from those three things.]

• Saving my universe (assuming that is true) and going home.
• The kids stuck here.
• Reese, Finch, Aurora.
• That bastard that's named after a horse.

I can say with certainty my priorities don't run contrary to yours, then.

Not recently, but you can't tell me that this cycle of death sort of thing you both have going on is totally normal and fine.

I'm aware it isn't for regular people. I can't speak for that prick and I know it isn't right, but violence has been a constant for most of my life. It's an inevitability for me.
