Attention Fellow People of Etraya,

I am Doctor Daniil Dankovsky, Bachelor of Medicine. As I understand it, few of you have seen a doctor lately. That simply won’t do! Please, don’t wait to get sick to establish care. I am situated in the hospital, ready to take consent forms and make updated medical histories. At least a few of you have unaddressed concerns, I just know it. The average person comes to see the doctor when it’s too late! Though we cannot die here, there is no reason to suffer unduly.

And if you are otherwise healthy, perhaps think of it as helping me out. In the event of an outbreak, it is far more helpful to have complete clinical pictures of the inhabitants. Especially, as I understand it, there are many biological differences in this population.

Please come visit me during my clinic hours, every day from 10am to 6pm.

[What Daniil really wants is to meet more of the unusual inhabitants of Etraya more quickly as well as conduct casual interviews of the sort of people who are slated to save the universe. But he can’t just say that completely outright.]

i was so occupied with arriving here that i completely forgot! thank you for all your hard work, doctor.

[ Especially considering the above comments about travelers from many different places and inoculation... ]

there's no precedent where i come from for this kind of inter-dimensional travel. i should definitely come in for a check-up.
wannasmash: "What do you mean?" (huh)

midoriya, but my hero name is deku. i can walk in, i'm not feeling sick or anything.

General questions might not be a big deal in public, but things like blood type etc. are private medical information. He's been in and out of hospitals enough to be an old hand at this.

Presently a green-haired high schooler in a plain light blue T-shirt, black basketball shorts, and red sneakers finds himself in the waiting room at the hospital he rushed out of so quickly on his first day. This affords him the opportunity to look around it more. He doesn't bat an eye at the robots. The snacks provided are... weird. He leaves them alone.

He's not tall, but he's packed with as much muscle as his small frame will allow. His right arm is heavily scarred. He has freckles and a generally open expression on his face. He has taken a seat that affords him a view of all hallways and the entrance.

He vaguely mumbles, "It's 'Midoriya'..." as he follows him to the office, looking around curiously. He should be more assertive about his name, but he doesn't count himself high on his list of priorities.

"More like comic books and superpowers than ancient Greece, but yeah." When meta abilities started appearing, people in his world were quick to compare it to comic books. They started adding larger than life personalities and costumes to their disguises.

no worries!

Midoriya has an appreciation for history, but in a teenager's daily life, someone punching holes through walls is going to be more relevant than some old statue of naked Heracles. Midoriya takes a seat. The doctor is very tall compared to him, by about half a foot. Midoriya owes some of his height to his voluminous hair.

"Our identities haven't been secret for the most part since codifying the Hero profession into law," he recites with a completely straight face. "There are underground Heroes who prefer to keep their names out of the media, and there are some privacy measures as with celebrities, but we're still on record with the government."

Even his mortal enemies know his identity. It doesn't change circumstances much since they'd come after him in the course of his public work anyway. What's really secret is the true nature of his power.
wannasmash: "I'm more concise in writing." (mutter explain)

oh no he activated his trap card

"Midoriya Izuku, 16. Uh," he pauses awkwardly, not knowing the doctor's language conventions, "Midoriya is my family name. Hero name: Deku. Quirk: uh, super strength. Can I have a pen?"

There are many different ways to write names that sound the same in Japanese, and his is no exception. Ordinarily he would have just shown his Provisional Hero License, but he arrived in Etraya with nothing but the clothes on his back. It was a blow to find out he lost it. He worked very hard to pass that test. He nearly wept with joy when he received his card!

As for his Quirk... He has wondered if he should be honest about what it can do or keep up the lie. Back home, he's on city records as having "super strength." `He guesses that what All Might warned him about might happen here as well: If someone knew his Quirk was weird, especially if they knew it could be transferred, they might want to steal it somehow. He's not going to let this stop his Hero work, but maybe operating on a need-to-know basis would be best.

Meanwhile... "Rescue, combat, and evacuation make the core purpose of Hero work. It's our job to stabilize things and smoothly hand them off to emergency responders."

His appearance supports this. He's muscular, scarred, has had a few nights of terrible sleep lately, but otherwise looks like he exercises and eats healthy and well. Ordinarily someone his age wouldn't be so scarred, but his Quirk was dangerous for his body.

He should stop talking, but he continues rambling with steadily increasing speed.

"Depending on our Quirks and specialties, we can save people from collapsed buildings, detain Villains, and make sure ordinary bystanders move to a safe place, all the while reassuring them that everything will be all right. The Hero Commission assesses our work. I'm still in training. I have a Provisional License, which means I can go ahead and act without orders in an emergency only. But I'm guessing things work differently here."

Please make him stop.

"I determined that given the whole inter-dimensional kidnapping situation, it's all kind of an emergency. I think the judicial use of Quirks in public should be okay as well as me acting on my own without a supervisor. There's no one for me to ask permission from, and I have been warned that dangerous incidents happen pretty regularly and without warning, so I should keep up my training..."

Stop!!
wannasmash: "And there's this other vague thing..." (explain counting)

He's not sure it makes a difference in the grand scheme of things, but paperwork must be accurate, and Midoriya is diligent to a fault. Shyly he writes his full name: 緑谷出久, and his Hero name: デク.

When Daniil speaks, he startles and blinks. He got carried away again! Muttering to himself or rambling to others is a habit of his... His friends expect it now. Midoriya is about to apologize, but he's asked a question instead. He tries to remember how previous doctors described it to him.

"My hand and my arms had repeated injuries mostly due to my Quirk. My ligaments suffered extreme deterioration. My super strength was originally too much for me, and my arms would break from the inside. I had to learn to control it and also build muscle to handle it. I'm a lot stronger now, but I still have arm bracers as part of my costume to mitigate strain."
wannasmash: "It's actually OK for once and I'm not dead, so I call that a win." (smile gentle)

His family name means "green valley," and he has the verdant hair to match. His first name is impossible for automatic translation to parse without more context: "from a certain place, one's turn to go on" and "long ago, old story." With a large stretch, his first name could mean something poetic like "origin." As for "Deku," it could mean anything since it's written in katakana.

"No, they don't hurt. Only when I overexert myself. Movement is fine."

He flexes his fingers, wrist, and then the whole of his right arm. His scars wrinkle when their elasticity is tested against the rest of his skin as scars normally do, but they've healed over as well as can be. He has a large nasty one on his upper right arm, another surgical scar near his elbow, and numerous smaller ones on his hand and other arm.

"I had to do a lot of work to rehabilitate them back to normal. There's no more numbness or tingling." He seems quietly proud of the fact that he's no longer a bag of broken bones. Small steps...
wannasmash: "Gotta invent a new move..." (frown hmm thumb)

He shivers. Amputation... yeah... the doctors did warn him that if he kept injuring himself, he'd lose the use of his arms. He had to figure out a more sustainable way to fight or say goodbye to his Hero dream.

"I had some help from Recovery Girl's healing Quirk, though it's not like it can reverse anything, just speed up the natural healing process. Come to think of it, my hand does get kind of stiff in the cold. And I can touch a hot mug easier... Anyway, that's pretty much it."

He hopes that suffices for Dr. Dan son of Dan.
