Hello, this is Castiel.
If you were given an egg and don't intend to care for it, I'm willing to nurse it in your stead. My nest is large enough to incubate several.
You can meet me at the Kwik Trip.
( ooc: i will be handwaving all physical exchanges for convenience's sake.
please note: eggs that are given away will not hatch, so this is really just a relatively "guilt-free" way for a character to get rid of an egg if they don't plan to participate. )

[A little joke, to distract himself from the faint ache in his chest. He shouldn't be surprised that Castiel would want to take in abandoned eggs. Too much else has lined up already, and Dazai is nothing if not good at reading and predicting patterns.
It'd just be easier...if he could've been wrong, is all.]

[ at first, that's a very confused: no. of course they aren't sheep. why would he think they're sheep? sheep are ruminants. they don't lay eggs.
then he realizes that dazai is stating this in more of a metaphorical sense. such as a shepherd to his flock, yes? the religious association would check out. ]
But I can feel them.
no subject
Even if the notion is profoundly unsettling in a different way. He'd talked to John about how a person would go mad if they were aware of the 119 deaths that occur every minute on average. Does Castiel feel it, every time a person dies? Does he bear their pain, or is it more like little lights burning out among millions, ultimately irrelevant due to the millions flickering on at the same time?
For all Dazai might feel he lacks the qualifications to be a proper human being, he can only be what he is, in the end.]
do you feel all of us, as well? what does it feel like, when we die?
no subject
[ maybe not dazai specifically, because of his curious power. but in a general sense, to answer his question: yes. to say how he experiences death, though, is a more or less interesting answer, depending on how you look at it. ]
It's a kind of transmutation, I suppose. Your soul remains. You move from one state to another.
Of course, Heaven is a place I can visit.
[ the gravity isn't lost on him— but he can't, exactly, feel it. ]
no subject
[He's not sure how to think about it, really. For a man who's spent his life idealizing death, it's a uncomfortable notion.]
are there really pearly gates?
