so new people showing
hi everyone! I'm Kate, or Hawkeye
there's a lot of younger people in the mix as well
before the adults get involved and start poo pooing the idea of *kids* saving the world
I'm sure mine isn't the only one that's been saved by the younger gen a time or two
anyway
I've found a building here that is basically mine from home
my home
it's marked as Bishop Publishing
any teens or 20 somethings need a place to hangout
it's open
there's several games, an archery range, gym, and a lot of other things that can be used to either train or just relax
[address of building here]
feel free to join us
it's all good

Doom generally does. Still. It sounds interesting.
This may be getting ahead of myself, but I wonder if there's a way to tie consoles into the network. If more of them show up, maybe we could get some online multiplayer going.
no subject
We probably could. Have you seen any computer stores? I’m pretty good with home networks.
no subject
I haven't so far. One of several conspicuously missing amenities. Not that I'm complaining about the free portable platforms we've got, but it'd be nice to have a desktop.
no subject
Aurora said there were desktops in the common areas. They had to come from somewhere.
no subject
I'm assuming the same secret warehouses and factories everything else comes from, at this point. It'd be something if they were ordering it in, though. Think Aurora has a credit card for online shopping?
no subject
I'm thinking she'd be a terrible AI if she needed a credit card. It's still weird, though, the variety of stuff in this place. They have to have some massive 3D printers somewhere.
no subject
Massive, extremely advanced 3D printers, or they're pulling resources from other universes the way they pulled us in. I don't love the possible implications of option two, though.
no subject
The tech needed to 3D print with any material is equally terrifying. We already know they can bring things in from other dimensions.
no subject
And it's terrifying, but it's a localized kind of terrifying. The concept of them whisking things off of infinite shelves in the infinite multiverse to stock a convenience store strikes me as worse, but that could just be me.
no subject
I guess when you stack that up next to whisking away people out of infinite beds in the infinite multiverse, if it is infinite, I don't mind the shoplifting so much.
no subject
I mean, it's not our biggest problem, but think of the poor store managers. How do you explain the shrinkage?
Or, you know. If you get something that belonged to you back home, how do you know it's yours? What if there's some other version of you that's now missing a treasured Little League trophy?
Hence, preferring the bootleg fakes theory.
no subject
They're not stealing the buildings, though, I saw the robots working on building one. So that's a point in favor of 3D printers, unless you think they're only stealing the small items and raw materials.
no subject
I'd assume buildings are harder to relocate than smaller objects. There are structural issues with anything load-bearing. Not really a drag and drop project.
But while we're assuming 3D printers, that brings me right back to wondering how they'd be putting together the blueprints. It's not just objects like the things back home. It's perfect duplication, down to wear and tear. So what's that? Mind reading? Multiversal surveillance? Door number three?
no subject
True. Construction isn't my forte, but I think there's something about building a foundation on bedrock or... something something to keep everything from listing to one side. Don't ask me, I can't level a picture frame.
I think surveillance is more likely than mind-reading. Isn't it? Did anyone get something that's only been in their head?
no subject
You don't really have to know construction. Just physics. Let's both hope one of the next missions isn't Habitat for Humanity, though.
I don't know. That's interesting. It'd be worth testing out. Likely would want to find someone with a strong imagination to do it, if it hasn't been tried already.
no subject
I took high school physics. Does that count?
Did you meet anyone particularly artsy? Somebody with a really strong mind's eye. They'd have to be able to think of it like it's real.
no subject
It's what I'm counting for myself, so I'd say yes.
I haven't exactly been asking. Another thing to add to the 'getting to know you' checklist. Or we could wait for a world saving freehand painting competition.
no subject
[ Why all the flattery? It’s so much. ]
If Aurora is reading this, please no painting competitions. I want my world to live.
no subject
I'm messing with you, FYI.
[ He can hand out a dollop of mercy, from time to time. Especially if it prevents him from being misconstrued as a genuine suck up. ]
At least you've got world-doomingly bad art skills to humanize you.

I'll start. Krouse, 18, Wisconsin, USA, Earth. I like long walks on the beach, playing games that aren't bullshit, and speculative conversations about how fucked we all are.
no subject
Then we’re both doomed, because I’m from Jersey. My name’s Tim, I’m 17, and I like arcades, skateboarding, and artichoke on pizza. Think that’ll get me in good with the powers that be?
