Looking for a mechanic capable of fixing a prosthetic arm, altruistic introverts highly preferred, opportunistic assholes also acceptable.

Age irrelevant, but if you're a child I will comment on it.

You make it sound like the opportunistic types are your second choice. You would really trust someone claiming altruism with a limb?

How bold.

Why wouldn't you trust someone altruistic with a working limb?

What's your definition of a child?

I'm going to need something more specific. I don't know where you're from or your age-based laws.

So ten and above. Okay, my daughter has been gifted with mechanical skills and could potentially assist.

You really think someone would lie about wanting to help you? With an arm? Why would anyone do that?

[ This might as well have Harold's name posted with it. Nonetheless, he's not about to live up to "altruistic introvert" label by oversharing. ]

I've no particular expertise in prosthetics, but I believe I should be able to restore it to working order if you're having difficulties.

He's keen on the sound of his own voice. But he's very good with mechanical things. He's an inventor.

I'm a human, but that's not our calendar date, no. That isn't going to be a problem, is it?

[He does, honestly, mean well.]

Hah, so you aren't losing anything.

The "happy to help" type are also more liable to volunteer foolishly. Which as you said, it is broken, but I assume you know as well as I do that there is a difference between broken and irreparably damaged.

Why do you need something like that fixed? Did it break on arrival or some shit?

[Ignoring the question because people keep calling her variations on "painfully naive" and it's a sore spot!]

I simply fail to see what benefit someone would get out of pretending to be altruistic to help another person with their arm. If they have the skill and they use it to help you, you've still been helped. All they can expect in return at that point is a favour, which I'd want to give to anyone who helped me, regardless.
