As for the announcement, the hospital now has a wing to treat magical maladies. Witch doctors and the like are welcome to come check it out. People with magical maladies also welcome to come get treated, I don't know how any of this shit works.

What manner of "magical maladies" do you refer to?

It's the name he chooses to go by. I'm very respectful of such things, the last mission taught me about deadnames. Against my will, but still.

And I have no idea, the machines come with manuals in various languages and I can't ready any of it. The bots seem to know, though. Why? Got a magic disease you want treated?

No, it is not. I suspect he simply has not bothered to correct a user name assigned to him, as was done to others not long ago.

There is a curse that afflicts people of my world that we can do naught for, so I couldn't help but wonder.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure we can treat it, but since it's tied to magic use, I doubt we can cure it. We can slow it down, for sure, maybe even get it to recede altogether for a bit.

That is far more than I would have expected in this world or any other. Does it require any resources you do not already have at present?

I don't think so, but I haven't tested it.

Calling it that would be unethical. But yeah, I won't know if it works until I treat someone.

My case is less advanced than that of another present in this place.

One of the new machines is specifically to... uh. Cleanse your blood from the thing that makes the stones happen. I think.

I'm extrapolating a lot, but based on the design and apparent use, I think that's what it is.

So that would suggest some form of contamination, I suppose. Perhaps from our prior environment itself?

The method is unfamiliar to me, but if it may aid the others, it's worth the attempt.

As far as I know, it only happens to magic users. So it seems sensible that some residue left by the magic is what causes the petrification.

That is true; it only afflicts those who use magic. In the time since I was brought into all of this, however, I have seen no change despite the fact that I should have, even in small measure.

It has led me to speculate as to why, though it is only conjecture.

So your petrification illness hasn't progressed since your arrival to Etraya even though you've continued to use magic?

[oblige]

Yes. Though I endeavor to be conservative in its use, I know well enough that a change should be expected by now. I monitor my condition closely, as one might expect.

Maybe you should talk to the other person and compare notes before we try treating either of you.

Perhaps. We are not exactly well-acquainted, but it is an important matter.

My guess is that Etraya is keeping the condition from worsening, but I'd want to know if it's the same for both of you.
